WANTED: A Decent Book for a Enthusiastic Reader

Ever since I finished school I never really picked up another book. This could have been because of two reasons. Reason One, it had been drummed into my head that books were for learning, and I’d just been subject to over a decade of it and did not want to do anymore. Reason Two, I was just TOO busy to read.

This is going to sound a little cliched, BUT, Harry Potter was my bait back in to the wonderful word of literature. In only a few days I had finished reading the first three books, and had the next on order and could not wait to read it. Since then I have been hooked on books. I have read many different genres and publications by many different authors, but I now have a rather large problem! I have no idea where to go now with my reading.

This may sound a trivial problem with all of the current issues in the world, why would a book, a few hundred pages of words matter? Well, it’s the escapism, going into another world, another person’s life, another situation (there is nothing wrong with who or where I am, but it’s nice to escape sometimes).

I know what some may be thinking now, what kind of books do I like, what authors do I like, and possibly what books have I already read? Well, that is the problem, I don’ t know where I belong. I have read the following books, among others:

Eragon - Christopher Paolini
Eldest - Christopher Paolini
Vurt - Jeff Noon
Virgin Suicides - Jeffrey Eugenides
Poppy Shakespeare - Clare Allan
The Motorcycle Diaries - Ernesto Guervera
No Time for Goodbye - Linwood Barclay
Tales of the Perilous Realm - J.R. Tolkien
Girl, Interrupted - Susanna Kaysen
Most post 2000 Stephen King
Nympomatation - Jeff Noon

This is only a small taster of what I have read. I cant remember all of them, I generally tend to sell them or give them away once I’ve read them. What I need now is something else to read. A book that is going to give me everything that I want:

A gripping story with comedy, surreal moments, and maybe a bit of romance (NOT Mills and Boone style). A book that is going to make me not want to put it down when I pick it up. All suggestions are welcome....I will read anything!!!!!!!
